i am disgusted to see what kind of an influence is on today's youth. y'all are probably thinking what's new, that's been going on a long time. well, i was watching tv(public television at that) the other day and saw a commercial i hadn't seen before. it was an ad for a new perfume by britney spears. the commercial was really tacky, and seemed to me that it was mor of an advertisement for sex. i work with children alot and it makes me angry to think that they could be sitting at home watching tv, and then a commercial comes on with britney spears(the greatest role model for every little girl), filling their minds with trash like that. then another thing that happened, i was looking for a skirt. i wanted a decent length, right below the knee, to wear with my boots. it was ridiculous how many places i had to call(department stores, discount stores, walmart, western wear places)before i found one that wasn't a mini skirt. none of the juniors' clothes carried any that long, the longest was about an inch above the knee and it had a slit up the back pretty high. i checked the women's departments, theirs weren't much better either. i even tried a western wear store, thnking they carried stuff like that for country girls who wanted their boots to be visible when wearing a skirt. that was really disappointing to hear their skirts were short too. Finally I found one that was right below my knee, and it wasn't too expensive and I love it. Where I'm going with this isn't, "Oh I love my cute new skirt", the point I'm making is that nowadays even if a girl wants to dress modestly, she has to try really hard to find anything decent. It seems that the main way the media is targeting today's teens is with sex, and that's just what was on my mind to write abt.
