Monday, December 29, 2003 Hey guys, I'm back home from grandma's, had a nice weekend, except I don't feel so great. I've got some cold, which I hope to get over fast, because all I wanna do is be lazy, and that's not like me. I want to tell you guys who read my last post, as Katie said, we aren't supposed to celebrate the birth of Christ, which I didn't know before. I already knew the part about the life, death, and resurrection, and just realized I needed to rephrase this because I sure sounded dumb. I'll put the verse on here as soon as she sends it. Thanks Katie. Saturday, December 27, 2003 Everybody can do their little dance now, I've decided to post. This week has been crazy, first we had friends come in town, which was really fun. Then, we did the whole christmas thing three different days with different parts of our family. We went to a candlelight service with my uncle and mom, he and my aunt and are methodist, and we went to one with them last year, but she wasn't able to this time because it was past the baby's bedtime. The service wasn't the best, it was the basic sinner's prayer type sermon with a little bit of christmas stuff to it. I really enjoyed watching the lady who signed the service though. I had some fun this week with everybody, but it makes me sick how Christmas has been used as a holiday to celebrate everything but the birth of Jesus. I don't think His birthday is supposed to be about us receiving gifts. Phillippians 2:3-8 says" Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Now really, how many people do you think were really thinking about this, or anything besides what was in that package they were tearing open as they were sitting under their trees? Prolly not many. Jesus wasn't even born in winter, but if people choose to take time to honor His birthday then, that's okay, if we actually are with a sincere heart. My favorite memory of Christmas is one year, whne after all the present opening was over, we went to our home church and listened to some singing, had a good fellowship with some friends, and read out of the Bible . That was the first time I ever met our friends who were just in town, and that's another reason it's my favorite Christmas, they're really sweet people. I hope y'all got something out of what I wrote and if I offended anyone in what I wrote here, I'm sorry I offended you but not sorry about what I wrote. I hope I made sense, because when I was thinking what to write it sounded much better than it does now. Sorry guys, I have trouble with words:). Well, I gotta run. Everybody have a great weekend! Alicia Wednesday, December 17, 2003 It's been a few days since I posted, so I'll start with what I did this weekend. Saturday we went to my uncle's Christmas party. We're not really into the whole christmas thing, but the rest of our family is. We had a nice time visiting with all of our cousins, even if they are a little crazy. Sunday, we saw a christmas cantata at church, the music was so pretty, and it wasn't so much of a christmas musical this year as a worship thing, so that turned out really kewl. Later that nite me my sister and our friends Kim, Bean and Jena went to Bean's apartment, and Kim made pasta with Vodka sauce, it was very tasty. We watched the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie called Top Hat, all I have to say about that is they sure dance alot in it. Now I'm sitting here in mismatched PJ's, checking out blogs, and listening to the Blue Man Group CD I got at the library. I just started reading a book that I also checked out,
it's called "8 simple rules for dating my teenage daughter". It prolly would insult the typical teenage girl, but I find it quite comical. Well, I'm gonna head out for now, everybody have a great tomorrow. twinskater Thursday, December 11, 2003 Lately I've been noticing how much things change as you get older. At first I thought turning 18 would mean no more fun, because everybody would think I was immature. But then I realized, it's not what everybody else thinks that's important, and when I go and have fun with the kids, they love me for it. As long as you know how to act like an adult, I think it's okay to be a kid every once in awhile,
because life would be too dull without kids(whether grown or small ones). Tuesday, December 09, 2003 Well, I had a great weekend. went to church, and on Sunday nite I got to hear this little girl who I babysit sing Jesus loves me. She looked like a little angel. Her dad is the choir director and he said that she decided to sing on her own. Also I got some good news, this one guy who is on the groundskeeping comittee finally convinced the guy in charge of me and my sister picking weeds to put some roundup on them and blowtorch it. Finally, no more weedpicking, I hope. It's funny, every time my sister hears the word blowtorch, she gets this grin on her face, I'd like to know what she's thinking. Well, gotta head to bed. Later,
twinskater Saturday, December 06, 2003 Well, I'm gone for the weekend again, got babysitting saturday and then sunday school,
will be home sunday nite though. Today our cousin came over, she's quiet but fun. Her and my sister mouth are total opposites, but best friends. My sister and me are putting together a scrapbook for our year of teaching sunday school. My aunt and friend both do lots of scrapbooking, it's pretty kewl. Well, I gotta get up early so I'm heading out. MaybeI'll catch someone online at 5 a.m.(Not!) laters, twinskater Wednesday, December 03, 2003 I still have nothing exciting to post, and it looks like there's still not a whole lot going on in the way of blog. I did notice Zippy posted though, and now that Pepe's home that should smell things up a bit ;). Welkacome home Pepe,
