Hiya everybody! Just got back from an exciting weekend of student life, a youth conference in houston. The conference theme was Love God, Love People, relating to Mark 12:30 and 31. There were great video clips, speaking, music and drama to go with it, I think I liked the drama the best. My friend Kim came down from college just for the conference, that made me happier even than getting to meet Chris Tomlin(he was the music guest). Our kids are learning the same verse from Student Life in Sunday school this month, so I was able to come back and tell them what I learned at the conference. It was cool because they all got so excited about it. Over the time since I last posted, one of my cousins was married and had a beautiful wedding, then another cousin had a beautiful baby girl. That's the youngest baby I've ever seen, not even an hour old. I can't wait to see her again, now that she's home from the hospital. Hope everybody had a great time at SFHP, I know alot of y'all are there now and won't read this post for a few days. Oh yeah, I finally got the Casting Crowns CD, it's so cool! Hasta,
Alicia

" When God-fearin women get the blues,
there ain't no slap dab a tellin'
What they're gonna do
Run around yellin'
I got a mustang
it'll do 80
You don't have to be my baby
I've stirred my last batch of gravy
You don't have to be my baby"

This is the song that's been stuck in my head and won't get out, I heard it on CMT crossroads the other day. It was an episode with Pat Benetar and Martina Mcbride, I thought it was awesome. The song isn't even Martina's best, but there's this one part, and the way she sang it sounded cool, especially when Pat Benetar joined in. My sister likes it because it has Jerry Douglas playing the dobro(that's what she's learning to play) Tonite is an evening of relaxing, listening to Martina and checkin email. I just finished going thru TLW, it was cool. We signed commitment cards to give to our future mate that say,
" Believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God, myself, my family, my friends, my future mate, and my future children to be sexually abstinent until from this day until the day I enter a Biblical marriage relationship."

I think it's a neat commitment to make, the thing that will be hard is keeping the card until your wedding day without losing it. I finally saw the Two Towers, it was awesome. Spiegel is cool! I can't wait to see the next movie, hope it's good. We got a wedding on Valentine's day, one of my twin cousins is getting married, and my mom made the dress. I haven't seen it yet, but the pattern is sure purdy(or as roo would say, pretty). I got a random Bible verse for you all( some northerner grammer here, we say y'all.), then heading out. here it is:
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds thru Christ Jesus.

Hey guys, sorry it took me so long to post, but I just never got around to it. This weekend was really busy, Saturday we worked doing setup for Sunday church, the setup guy threw out his back so they called Ashley and me in. I went to bed earlier than I ever do on a Saturday nite :). Sunday we had our regular 2nd grade Sunday school, our class was in a room called Praise Place, that's the music room. They learned a scarf dance to the Doxology, of course since it's a Baptist church they called it creative movement instead(Baptists don't dance :P). I was really happy to see all my kids cooperating and I could hear everyone singing. There was a lesson that went with it, about what praise means, and helping the kids understand about praising thru song. this new way of learning is really neat, you can see how some kids respond better thru music, some being read to, others art, and some learn better thru visuals. Sunday nite was a class about teaching children the gospel, and I was glad to hear that this pastor isn't big on baptizing children. He said he doesn't want to be responsible for letting children believe they are ready to be baptized when they're not. I didn't agree with everything he said, but I was really glad to hear that. Well, I'm about to watch the Two Towers, so I'll head out for now. I hope all you guys have a great day, and don't stop by without leaving a comment. Thanks,
Alicia

Well, I'm back from grandma's and all is well. Saturday I got up at 6:45, and went up to help load branches the guys trimmed, rake leaves, and spread fertilizer on the churchgrounds. It was a lot of fun, the two guys in charge of landscaping are both named Joe, and Ashley gave them the nickname "the Joes". One is short and one is tall, and she calls the short one little Joe. If any of y'all are veggie fans, you've prolly seen the ballad of little Joe, and there's a song that goes with it that she decides to dedicate to him. Then we had sloppy Joes for lunch, kinda crazy, by then we were really laughing. This weekend my aunt and my great uncle came in town, so we had a little family get-together Saturday nite, it was fun, but loud. My dad's family is incapable of talking quietly, or in a normal tone, they're just naturally loud people.
Sunday I did my regular teaching in the A.M., the kids did a dramatization of the Lord's prayer. It was alot louder than I ever pictured the Lord's prayer to be, but they were having fun. That nite there was a superbowl party for the youth, and I went to it, but didn't even watch any of the game, instead I played Phase 10 all nite. Hope everybody else had a great weekend, and somewhat eventful. Blessins',
Alicia
